A peon working at the National Academy of Direct Taxes was found dead at his house at Samta Nagar in Jaripatka. The deceased identified as Ramesh Deshbhratar, 55 was suspected to be murdered by strangulating him to death as the scuffle marks were spotted around his neck. This is the third murder in the city in the last fortnight, since the onset of New Year.

Sources said Ramesh’s family stays at the NADT quarters while he was staying alone in this house. Jaripatka police were yet to round up the culprits. It was informed that there are many pictures of the deities in his room where he allegedly performed witchcraft. However no one from the area goes to him to seek help through his superstitious ways, there are few others from outside who often come to visit him. Ramesh was reportedly found dead, wrapped in the blanket.

Few bottles of liquor were also recovered from his house.

Meanwhile police were zeroing in on the theory that some thieves might have killed him. Ramesh was about to retire in some time. He has a wife and two sons in his family staying at the NADT quarters.

Police have registered the murder case and are investigating further.
