Nagpur: The postmortem report of a woman, who was found murdered in the premises of Government Medical College here, confirmed that she was not raped before being brutally killed. The woman, 35 was found dead with her facial skin peeled off with the surgical knife in an attempt to conceal her identity. Earlier it was suspected that the woman must have been raped.

Confirming the development, senior PI of Ajni police station SS Sankhe has divulged the details of postmortem report.

The arrested accused, Gurudayal Pathak (52), who allegedly peeled off the woman’s facial skin and also removed clothes from the body to conceal her identity, was on Sunday remanded to police custody till October 13. Cops are yet to recover the surgical knife with which the woman’s throat was slit.

Cops feel the woman was killed somewhere else as no blood stains were found on the soil at the spot where the body was found.

As the sequence of the crime is not yet clear, a section of police feels that apart from Pathak, who works as a post-mortem attendant at GMCH mortuary, more people could be involved in the crime.

According to a police complaint lodged earlier by Pathak’s wife against him, the accused and the murdered woman had been in an illicit relationship since last three years. Sources also added that Pathak and the woman enjoyed liquor before she was murdered following an argument.
