एमपीएससी परीक्षार्थींना मोठा दिलासा;मुंबईला जाण्याची गरज नाही नागपूरसह चार शहरांत परीक्षा केंद्रेNagpur: In a major relief to candidates from Vidarbha and Marathwada preparing for Maharashtra Public Service Commission examinations, the commission has decided to expand its examination centres. Centres will be available in Nagpur, Amravati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Pune, eliminating the need for candidates to depend solely on Mumbai.

The MPSC will conduct screening examinations in around 42 subjects for the recruitment of candidates to professor-level posts under various advertisements. Previously, examination centres for these tests were located primarily in Mumbai. As a result, candidates from Vidarbha and Marathwada had to undertake long journeys to Mumbai for examinations lasting only a few hours. In addition to travel, they also had to bear the extra costs of accommodation and food.

Major benefit for candidates from Vidarbha

Candidates travelling to Mumbai from various districts of Vidarbha, including Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli and Chandrapur, faced considerable difficulties. Long-distance travel was particularly troublesome during the monsoon. With centres now available in Nagpur and Amravati, candidates from Vidarbha will receive significant relief. The opening of a centre in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will also address the difficulties faced by candidates from Marathwada.

Demand submitted to chief minister on July 6

On July 6, the student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking an increase in the number of examination centres. A delegation led by student wing convenor Shantanu Jhade had demanded that examination centres be opened, particularly in Nagpur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, for students from Vidarbha and Marathwada. The demand was made under the guidance of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president Sachin Karare. City president Dayashankar Tiwari also followed up on the demand.

Travel costs and mental stress expected to decline

Candidates have welcomed the MPSC’s decision. The availability of examination centres in nearby cities is expected to reduce candidates’ travel time, financial expenses and mental stress. The decision will be especially significant for those who previously had to travel long distances to Mumbai solely to appear for an examination.

The decision to decentralise examination centres is expected to make the MPSC’s examination system more accessible and convenient for candidates. Students from Vidarbha and Marathwada will now be able to take their examinations in cities closer to home, providing them with significant relief.
