Mob booked for truck driver murder case

Nagpur News: No arrests have been made so far in the lynching of truck driver Vinayak Shendre by an enraged mob after he knock dead a 15-year-old boy and injured  his seven other friends on Thursday evening at Ganeshpur village near Butibori on Wardha road. The mob was booked for Shendre’s murder.

Akshay Dhoke, a ninth standard student, had succumbed to his head injuries on the spot.  Among his seven other injured friends, four-Chandan Mandal, Komal Rai, Rahul Daheriya and Pragati Gupta-are out of danger. They are recuperating at a private hospital in the city. Other two were discharged after preliminary treatment.

 

Akshay and his seven friend were walking in two rows at home at GAneshpur from their school when the drunk truck driver came zooming his vehicle and hit the teenagers. However, Shendre was trying to flee with the truck while the teenagers were lying injured on the road. Enraged over this, some onlookers chased the truck to some distance and dragged him from the truck.

Within minutes, more villagers gathered at the spot and an irate mob thrashed Shendre to death before the police could reach. Cops rushed Shendre to nearby rural hospital but he was declared brought dead. There was tension at the spot till midnight. Heavy police force was deployed at the spot. After hours, the traffic was restored. In view of growing tension, police had used mild force to bring the situation under control.

 

On Friday, Akhsay’s and Shendre’s post mortem was conducted smoothly at the mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Kalyan Singh Rajput, Butibori PI told that there was no tension at the mortuary and even the villagers co-operated very well.

“Investigations are underway.  The accused are not yet identified and hence no arrests have been made so far,” said Rajput.

 

Jagdish Mandal,, who has rushed the injured children to hospital in his car told that the villagers had calm down today and there was no protest by them. “On Thursday, the villagers were infuriated by Akhsya’s death and other lying injured on road and hence thrashed Shendre in anger. Now they are supporting police as well as Akhsay’s parents,” he said.
