The Crossword Puzzles, the mindboggling juggling of words and brain teasers for millions and millions of buffs across the globe, have completed 100 years of their existence, and to mark the occasion, the CBSE is organizing Crossword Puzzles Championship for its students. The Championship would be organized at three rounds.
THE PARTICIPANTS:
The Crossword Puzzles were started in 1913 and have completed 100 years of pride, have carved out a place in the homes of billions and entertained the pen holders with grace and gaiety. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), to mark the proud moment, has decided to hold All India Inter-School Crossword Championship for the CBSE students. The Championship would be held only for students from Class VIII to Class XII and will be held in three rounds –School Round, City Round, and National Round.
FINAL ROUND IN NATIONAL CAPITAL:
The top three students of every school would be given chance to move to City Round. Thereafter, the Final Round will be held in Delhi. The Championship is likely to see CBSE students from across the nation teasing and pricking their brains for finding solutions to the graceful Crossword Puzzles. Two students and their teachers, who reach the Final Round, would be given to and fro Railway fare from their origin of destination.
COMBINATION OF CHALLENGE & CHAOS:
The year 2013 is being observed as the Year of Crossword. However, the Crossword Puzzles are not the cup of tea for all. Some go ecstatic with the very sight of Crossword Puzzles and pick the pen to face the challenge of cracking them. And some develop cold feet at the very sight of them and hastily distance away themselves from the squares of black and white.

According to experts, the brainy Crossword Puzzles enhance reasoning power, spelling knowledge, and word grasping skills. Now-a-days, Crossword Puzzles have come handy in education technique, benefiting both teachers and the students. The Crossword Puzzles are a source of increasing vocabulary, word recall memory, and problem solving skills are also honed. Most significantly, students are focused at the target.
