Nagpur: In a major crackdown, the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) unit of Nagpur Crime Branch has busted a drug trafficking racket operating in the city. The police have seized MD drugs and weapons worth ₹6.31 lakh and arrested four notorious criminals involved in the illegal trade.
Based on a tip-off, the police raided a location within the jurisdiction of Kapil Nagar Police Station. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sheikh Salman Sheikh Kaleem, Sheikh Shahrukh Sheikh Kaleem, Swapnil alias BD Naresh Jambhulkar, and Haider Parvez alias Pathan Bhai.
From the accused, the police confiscated 86 grams of MD drugs, a pistol, mobile phones, and a two-wheeler. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be ₹6.31 lakh.
Criminal Background and Operation Modus:
Investigations revealed that the accused were transporting MD drugs from Bhiwandi and Mumbai to sell in Nagpur. Notably, Salman and Shahrukh have a history of involvement in serious crimes, including murder, attempted murder, rape, and drug trafficking.
In the first phase of the operation, three of the accused were apprehended. Interrogation led the police to Haider Parvez’s residence, where additional drugs and a firearm were recovered.
The case has raised concerns about law enforcement lapses, as these individuals—despite their severe criminal backgrounds—were able to continue operating freely within the city.
The police have intensified their probe and are working on tracing the larger network behind the racket, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend other members involved.
