Mayor unfurls tricolor at NMC’s I-Day celebration, highlights achievements

The Mayor Pravin Datke led the city of Nagpur in celebrating the 70th Independence Day by hoisting the tricolor at the lawns of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Other dignitaries present on the occasion include Ruling Party Leader Dayashankar Tiwari, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Estate Committee Chairman Sunil Agrawal, Prabhag Corporator Pragati Patil, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Ramnath Sonavane, Additional Commissioner Ravindra Kumbhare, Deputy Commissioner Ranjana Lade, Chief Engineer Ulhas Debadwar and other officials.

The Mayor in his address highlighted various schemes and projects undertaken by the civic body for overall development of city and citizens such as clean river campaign, riddance of open defecation in 37 of the total Prabhags, budgetary provision for welfare of Divyang persons, installation of 3000 solar water heaters at citizens’ houses as part of use of non-conventional energy sources, replacing Ladli Laxmi Yojana with ‘Majhi Kanya Bhagyashri Yojana, goal of planting 35,000 trees for environment conservation, various sports events, building of cement concrete roads worth Rs 300 crore, and a slew of other welfare and development works.

Nagpur Improvement Trust:
Nagpur Improvement Trust Chairman Dr Deepak Mhaisekar unfurled the flag at NIT premises. Superintending Engineer Gaur and Pasebandhe, Ganeral Manager Milind Salve, Executive Officer Sandip Bapat, Deputy Director of Town Planning Sujata Kadu and others were present.

Central Railway:
Central Railway Divisional Railway Manager Brijesh Kumar Gupta hoisted the tricolour at its office premises. He then inspected the parade with Divisional Security Commisioner RPF Jyotikumar Satija. He read out message of General Manager Akhil Agrawal to the employees. The additional facilities provided for the passengers were also highlighted. Special trains, 142 in number, will also be provided during the Ganesh Festival. The other achievements on power saving, CCTV facilities, revenue generated, platform ticket and reservation facilities were provided. Gupta also spoke about facilities for sports persons at Ajni Playground.

SECR:
South East Central Railway celebrated the Independence Day at Motibag with DRM Amit Kumar Agrawal as the chief guest. He hoisted the tricolour and inspected the parade of RPF, Nagarik Suraksha Sangathan, Scouts and Guides. He appealed to the staff to make continuous efforts for improving the facilities for the passengers and speedy disposal of pending cases of the employees.
