Mannapuram Gold heist: Accused Janhvi, wife of mastermind Subodh Singh, gets bail

Nagpur: The Sessions Court Judge G P Shirsat on Tuesday granted conditional bail to Janhvi Subodh Singh, an accused in the sensational robbery at Jaripatka Branch of Manappuram Gold Loan the city that took place on September 28, 2016.

In the biggest ever heist in the history of city, 5-6 masked men armed with guns had struck the Mannapuram Gold Branch and took away over 30 kg of gold valued at around Rs 9 crore and Rs 3 lakh in cash. The audacious robbery was captured in the CCTVs installed at the high-profile office.
Four bank staffers, including the manager, and six customers were present at the time. The robbers forced all staffers and customers into the strongroom.

Subsequently, Jaripatka police had registered an offence under Sections 395, 397, 342, 120B, 109 of the IPC read with Section 3+25 of Arms Act and hunt was mounted to nab the robbers. During the course of investigation Subodh Singh of Bihar was suspected to be the prime accused in the crime.

The hunting cops succeeded in nabbing Janhvi Singh, the wife of the mastermind Subodh Singh. It is alleged that Janhvi had helped accused persons in the crime. The prime accused Subodh Singh is still absconding and eluding the police dragnet.

Adv Sameer Sonwane and Adv Amit Thakur represented Janhvi Singh who was granted conditional bail by Sessions Court here on Tuesday.
