Nagpur: Raping on the pretext of marriage promise has been rampant practice adding to the crime against women in Nagpur. In a similar development a 22-year-old woman lodged a rape complaint against her beau Rajat Bagde, an MBA graduate and working with a private firm, at Ambazari police station on Wednesday. The survivor claimed that he befriended her on Facebook and WhatsApp in December 2014.
The woman, who was then pursuing BA, found him trustworthy after which he proposed marriage to her. After a while, he started taking her to parks and sexually exploiting her.
The cops said the survivor and the accused were staying in the same locality earlier. Around two years ago, her family shifted to Pandharabodi. However, the two remained in touch. A few days ago, the woman asked him get engaged but the accused denied. She then told her family and lodged a complaint.
