A man was murdered as fallout of a bizarre chain of quarrels and chain reactions as well. The high-voltage incident took place on Sunday. Two persons, father-son duo, have been arrested in connection with the murder.
According to police, the dramatic event began at about 6.30 pm on Saturday (October 4) when Jagdish Balkrushna Lute (32) and his wife Mangala, tenants of Ganesh Katurwar in Nandaji Nagar, Mahal, were quarrelling over a domestic matter. At the same time, the accused Nitin Ganesh Katurwar (27) and Ganesh Tukaram Katurwar, the house-owners, tried to intervene and end the quarrel between husband-wife. However, Jagdish resorted to hot exchange of words and thrashed the intervening Katurwars. Later, Geeta Katurwar lodged a complaint with Kotwali Police Station against Jagdish. But the petty-looking issue took the worst turn the next day, on Sunday (October 5).
Enraged by the police complaint against him, Jagdish went to the house of Katurwars and asked them, in rough tone, why they beat him. The wordy duel reached its peak and a fight erupted between Jagdish and the accused father-son duo. The accused duo first hit Jagdish with fisticuffs and kicks and then, in a fit of anger, Nitin Ganesh Katurwar whipped out a knife and stabbed Jagdish repeatedly on his chest. Jagdish died on the spot.
Kotwali Senior PSI Athawale, acting on the complaint lodged by Krushnarao Rajaramji Lute (60), has booked both the accused Nitin Ganesh Katurwar and Ganesh Tukaram Katurwar, the house-owners, under Sections 302, 34 of the IPC and put them under arrest. Further probe is underway.
