A man has not only lost Rs 40,000 but his bride-to-be ditched him and ran away. Police have booked three persons including two women in this connection.

According to police, the complainant Girishbhai Dhanjibhai Jhapda (37), resident of Plot No. 143, Vishwakarma Society, Bawdi, Rajkot (Gujarat) had arrived in Nagpur for some domestic work. During his stay in city, Girishbhai got acquainted with a woman Geetabai. After some days, Geetabai arranged a meeting between Girishbhai and a girl named Chhaya for marriage purpose. Subsequent, Girishbhai gave his nod for marriage with Chhaya. In exchange, Girishbhai agreed to give Rs 40,000 to Geetabai for her “good act.” Accordingly, on 27.6.2014, Chhaya accompanied Girishbhai and reached Chawla Travels near Manas Chowk in Sitabuldi for leaving for Gujarat. At the same time, Geetabai sent another accused named Bablu for taking money from Girishbhai. As decided, he handed over Rs 40,000 to Bablu. However, Girishbhai shortly found Chhaya missing from the spot. Both Bablu and Chhaya fled the scene as soon as the money was received. Attempts to trace both the accused proved in vain. Finally, the disappointed and cheated Girishbhai lodged a complaint with Sitabuldi Police Station against the three accused. PSI Shejav has booked Geetabai, Chhaya and Bablu under Sections 420, 34 of the IPC and is searching for them.
