Nagpur: A young man was killed and another injured when the two-wheeler they were riding in was dashed by a speeding truck in Lakadganj area here on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Azhar Qazi Islamuddin Qazi (34), resident of Plot No. 50, Wanzra, Kalamna. The injured is Chetan Kamalkishore Agrawal (33), resident of Plot No. 9/A, Pande Layout, Khamla Road. Both Azhar and Chetan were going on two-wheeler (MH-31/DP 3453) towards Lakadganj. As they reached behind Mehta Petrol Pump in Small Factory Area, a recklessly driven 10-wheeler truck (MH-29/T 929) dashed against their two-wheeler with forceful impact. Both Azhar and Chetan, as a result, fell on the road and received serious injuries. While Chetan survived, Azhar Qazi succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The truck driver fled the spot after mishap.
Lakadganj police constable Kishore, based on statement of Chetan Agrawal, booked the unidentified truck driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
