Man falls prey to fake loan promise, ends up losing Rs 86 k

Nagpur: MIDC police have registered a case against a group of people for duping a middle aged man of Rs 86,950 on the promise of arranging a loan between Aug 23 and Dec 15 this year. All the accused reportedly hail from northern part of India.

The accused have been identified as Raj Virsingh, Sirajdeep Singh, Rana Wakil, Rohit Bansal, Mukesh Bansal, Suresh Kumar Sharma resident of Chandigarh, Gudgoan, Hariyana.

Police sources said Manoj Trambakrao Hatgaonkar, 50, resident of Gajanan Nagar, I.C. Square, Hingna Road was out to seek loan of Rs 18 lakh as he had received a text message on his mobile phone. The message was allegedly sent by a finance company claiming to provide easy access to loan with minimum rate of interest. Lured into the proposal, Hatgoankar contacted the accused.

Following a series of discussions the accused led Hatgaonkar into believing that the company was the authentic one. The accused then asked him to deposit security amount in various accounts. Without any hitch the complainant went on to transfer money to the tune of Rs 86,950 in the directed bank accounts. Later, all the accused turned their phone off. Sensing something amiss, Hatgaonkar approached MIDC police and lodged a complaint.

MIDC police have booked all the accused under section 420, 34 of IPC and started the investigation.
