
Nagpur: In a tragic road accident on Wednesday afternoon, a 38-year-old man was crushed to death when a coal-laden tipper truck overturned on the Nagpur-Jabalpur Road near Velahari village under Beltarodi Police Station limits.
The deceased, identified as Rakesh Govindrao Halbe (38), a resident of Titur, Kuhi tehsil, Nagpur district, was on his way to work at Sunbiz Company, Butibori, riding his Honda motorcycle (MH-40/CJ-3335) when the accident occurred between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm.
According to police, the tipper-trailer (MH-40/CD-8615), loaded with coal, was being driven at high speed in a rash and negligent manner when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. Halbe, who was riding close by, was trapped underneath and sustained severe injuries.
Local residents and police personnel rushed to the spot and managed to pull him out from under the overturned vehicle. He was immediately taken to AIIMS Hospital, Nagpur, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s uncle, Baba Maroti Halbe (52), a resident of Plot No. 18, Mahavishnu Nagar, Hudkeshwar, Nagpur, Woman PSI Ghodse of Beltarodi Police Station has registered a case against the tipper driver under Sections 281, 106(1), and 324(4) of the Indian Penal Code for rash and negligent driving causing death.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
