Man awarded 10-year jail for raping five-year old girl in Nagpur

Nagpur: Special Judge K G Rathi in Nagpur on Thursday awarded 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) to Anil Chhotelal Chheole (28) after finding him guilty of raping a minor girl some five years ago.

The five-year-old victim was residing near Chheole’s house in the Tehsil police area. On February 4, 2017, Chheole called the girl to his house on the pretext of showing a mobile phone to her. He then closed the door and raped her. When the victim’s 28-yearold mother came to know about the heinous crime, she lodged a complaint at Tehsil Police Station. Subsequently, police registered a case under Sections 376, 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), read with Sections 5, 6 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act, against Anil Chheole. Cops then arrested Chheole.

Police Inspector Manisha Gond investigated the case and charesheeted Chheole. As the charges were substantiated, the court sentenced Anil Chheole to 10 years’ RI for the offence under Sections 376 of the IPC and Section 5 of PoCSO Act with a fine of Rs 5,000. Additional Public Prosecutor Shyam Khule represented the State.
