Nagpur: A 42-year-old man with a criminal record was arrested after allegedly threatening his 66-year-old mother and attempting to attack her with a knife during a dispute at a Shiv Bhojan centre in the Tahsil police station area.
The accused has been identified as Sachin Taklikar. The incident occurred at a Shiv Bhojan Thali centre in Kumbharpura, Jagnath Budhwari.

According to police, the accused’s mother, Leela Bai Taklikar, 66, was present at the centre when Sachin arrived. A dispute allegedly broke out over money.
Police said Sachin would allegedly demand money from his mother to purchase alcohol and frequently harass her over the issue. He also allegedly quarrelled with her over his unmarried status.
During the incident, the accused allegedly abused his mother and threatened to kill her. The argument escalated when he allegedly pulled out a knife and attempted to attack her.
At this point, Lalita Nimje, a woman employee at the Shiv Bhojan centre, intervened. She reportedly showed courage and managed to snatch the knife from the accused’s hand, preventing the situation from turning into a serious assault.
Following a complaint, Tahsil police arrested Sachin and registered a case against him under relevant sections of law.
Police records reportedly show that the accused has seven previous criminal cases against him and has already served 16 years in prison. He was released from jail only last year after serving a sentence in a murder case.
The accused is now back in police custody in connection with the alleged attempt to attack his mother. Tahsil police are conducting further investigation.
