Major breakthrough: Wanted murder accused nabbed by Panchpaoli cops

photoNagpur: In a major breakthrough, Panchpaoli police nabbed a wanted criminal involved in the sensational 2012 murder committed at Great Maratha Hotel in MIDC area. The wanted criminal was facing offences of serious nature and was also booked under stringent MCOCA. The arrest was outcome of an excellent informant network.

According to details, the Panchpaoli PSI M S Gawande and his team of three other policemen were on patrolling duty on Monday. While patrolling, the cops received a tip off that the accused Satish Ramdas Dhakne (32), involved in the murder of Monty Sardar at MIDC-based Great Maratha Hotel in 2012, was on way to city’s Vaishali Nagar Ambedkar Garden from his residence in Butibori. The cops were also told that the murder accused was riding a Yamaha motorcycle (MH-31/AL 1101). Armed with the tip off, the PSI Gawande and his team spread a dragnet near the Garden and waited in ambush. The moment the police team spotted the described motorcycle, they surrounded the person riding it and asked for his identity. As soon as the person divulged his name as Satish Ramdas Dhakne, resident of Sidco Colony Qr No. E/2, Butibori, the PSI Gawande and his team pounced on him and took the wanted accused under custody. The accused Satish Dhakne was facing offences under Sections 302, 146, 147, 149 of IPC read with Sub-Sections 3, 4+25 of Arms Act, Sub-Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act registered at MIDC Police Station. The wanted criminal was also booked under Section 3 of MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act).
