Nagpur News : The BLOOD DONATION CAMP is organised at LIT, Nagpur every year on the occasion of Commemoration of Rao Bahadur D. Laxminarayan on 30th September.
The NSS members & the students of the Institute, under the guidance of Prof. T.B. Chahande Director-in-charge, NSS Officer and encouraging teaching staff realised the importance of this camp, and organised it in the college campus this year too with the collaboration of Govt. Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Nagpur.
It began at around 11 am and continued up to 4 pm, with a steady stream of donors throughout. The corridor & campus of the Old LIT Boys Hostel was abuzz with young LITians chatting with each other, happy to be able to play their part in lending a helping hand to people in the region.
One of the rooms was utilized for a thorough medical check-up of potential donors, as well as the donation itself, while another there was another hall was where donors could lie down and recuperate for a while before they leave venue. They were provided with food including a bananas and a glass of milk. It was great to see more people than pre-registration numbers turning up in the venue. On this occasion, minimum 100 bottles of Blood Donation by Students & the Staff of the college is expected. And as expected this year also we exceeded our expectations and donated more than 100 bottles of blood i.e. 124 bottles. The samples were carefully sealed and transported away, while the volunteers and hospital staff helped in the clean-up of the area. Throughout the morning, there were smiles and laughter all around – a true embodiment of what we believe in – selfless service with a smile. The donors received certificate of recognition.
This camp helped students in getting awareness about their social responsibilities and showed enthusiastic participation for the same. This really was a proud day for the people related to Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur.
