Nagpur:
Panic gripped the dusty village of Khapa Nipani coming under Adegaon forest area, Hingna Tehsil, when a strayed leopard killed a cow in the evening of Tuesday (October 25). The cattle belonged to Bhaurao Shyamrao Kangale, resident of the same village. The wild cat made the kill of the cow when it was foraging in a farm.

Upon being informed, Adegaon Forest Range Assistant Officer A R sheikh and Forest Guard S Lende visited the spot and, after performing panchnama, submitted a report to Assistant Senior Forest Officer.

A number of villages including Adegaon, Khapa Nipani, Dhole Mohgaon, Dhanoli, Gothnag, Deoli, Tanda, come under Bore Sanctuary in Hingna Tehsil. Most of residents of the villages depend on farming. The villagers are a hassled lot due to menace of wild animals. These wild animals damage the standing crops and sometimes a feline make a kill of their cattle.

One of the farmers Sudam Chindhuji Tambulkar said that his farm is situated in Adegaon and he harvests Jowar, soybean, cotton, tur, udad, etc during kharif season. The wild animals have created havoc in his field by damaging the standing crops. He is now a worried man as he is not likely to reap any crop worth the name due to the wild menace.
