DR. M.G. Gharpure delivering the expert lecture

The Expert lecture of Dr. M.G. Gharpure, a distinguished Chemical Engineer, member jury committee MEDA and resource person for SAARC energy committee, was organized at LIT. The lecture was organized under the aegis of “ Pandharipande- Taskar lecture series”. At the beginning Mr. Avinash Patil, Secretary LIT Alumni Association Mumbai has explained the background and purpose of this lecture series to make awareness amongst students about the latest developments in the Process Industries.
Dr. M.G. Gharpure has deliberated on the topic “Role of Chemical Engineers and technologists in optimization of energy consumption in process Industries; Carbon Credit and PAT Scheme”. He has explained about how the Thermal & Electrical energy audits lead to improvement in Chemical Process Industries earnings. Giving the example of Sulfuric Acid plant he has enumerated that the plant which was consuming the energy has started cogeneration by Combined cycle on DG set .Explained the need, evaluation and trading of Carbon Credits. Highlighted the PAT scheme. He observed that if the energy considerations are properly incorporated at design stage the energy costs can be substantially reduced.
The programme was attended by all the Faculty members and students of Final Year B. Tech. & M.Tech. Enthusiastic queries of Students were satisfied by the guest speaker.
Prof. T.B. Chahande the Director In charge has presided over the function. Dr. K.V. Koranne, Prof. S.P.Ghisad, Dr. R.P.Ugwekar, Prof. R.P. Birmod took efforts to make the programme successful.
Student coordinators Shruti Paidipati, Neha Saraf, Akash More, Mohasin Ansari, Nana Satpute, Pratik Khobragade and group have actively participated in the programme.
