Nagpur: The Deputy Mayor Munna Pokulwar, on behalf Nagpur City, paid glowing tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his death anniversary today. Pokulwar visited Gokulpeth Square and and garlanded the statue of Shastri whose “courage and simplicity” endeared him to everyone.
Shastri, who was Prime Minister from June 9, 1964 to January 11, 1966, died in Tashkent (Russia) where he had gone to sign a peace pact in the wake of the 1965 India-Pakistan war.
Dadasaheb Kannamwar:
Similarly, the Deputy Mayor Pokulwar and MLC Prakash Gajbhiye remembered former Maharashtra Chief Minister Dadasaheb Kannamwar on his birth anniversary. Both Pokulwar and Gajbhiye offered floral tributes to the statue of Kannamwar situated at Vidhan Bhavan.
Others who were present on the occasion include MLA Dr Milind Mane, Dadasaheb Birihath, Dr Alewar, Prakash Badhiye, Raju Chavan, Suhastai Kannamwar, Ushatai Shantaram, Balasaheb Supurwar, Rajendra Badhiye, Pravin Pundhepatil, former MLA Deogade and others.
