    Lakadganj cops crack woman’s murder case, arrest four rag pickers from Itwari

    crimetodayNagpur News: Lakadganj police, in a cracking breakthrough, have arrested four persons involved in the murder of a woman. The murder took place on March 9 in Parwarpura, Gandhibagh near Itwari, Nagpur.

    It may be recalled, Nagpur Today had flashed the report titled: “Woman’s body with head crushed found in Gandhibagh, police suspect beggars’ role.”

    According to police, the woman’s head-crushed body was found at about 11.30 am on Sunday (March 9) in the compound of under-construction four-storied building of Pramod Jain in Parwarpura. A name, Dhaniya, was found tattooed on the right hand of the unidentified woman, aged about 40 years. The Lakadganj police had registered an offence under Section 302 of the IPC in this connection and were probing the matter further to nab the killers.

    During the course of investigation, the police scanned the footage of CCTV cameras installed at Jain Mandir in the area and with the help of informants, zeroed in on the four accused. The police detained Sohan Motilal Kudveti (35), resident of Samnapur, Tehsil Lakhnadoun, District Seoni (MP), Shishupal Sukhram Yadav (36), resident of Bapurao Galli, near Nikalas Mandir, Nagpur, Suraj alias Sudhakarrao Dakhore (28), resident of Old Mangalwari, near Devikar’s house, Nagpur. After a hot grilling by police, the three detained accused spilled the beans and subsequently revealed the gruesome murder. All the three accused informed the police that they and one of their accomplices, work as garbage and rag pickers and sleep on footpaths during nights. On the March 8 night, the four accused found the woman roaming near Nehru Statue, Itwari. All the four accused approached the woman and took her to the incident place by luring her with some food or other matter. Once at the secluded place, the four accused tried to rape her. But the woman resisted their attempt to rape her and started shouting for help. The four accused got panicky by the woman’s shouts and in the moment of anger, killed the woman by crushing her head and face with the help of big stones and bricks. This way all the four accused confessed their crime. The Lakadganj police put them under arrest at about 2200 hours on Saturday (March 15).

    As the woman was murdered on the International Women’s Day, the Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Saxena sensed seriousness of the crime visited the spot of murder and also stayed present at Lakadganj Police Station for two hours and guided the investigation.

    The murder case was cracked by the ACP N Z Kumre (Lakadganj Zone), Senior Police Inspector Satyanarayan  Jaiswal, Police Inspector S D Madavi, PSI D M Bhadodkar, Constables Rajendra Baghel, Sanjay Kotangale, Madhukar Shirke, Ajay Rode, Prakash Dhapodkar, Pravin Ganar, Rajesh Tiwari, Santosh Gupta, Sariputra Fulzele, Rajesh Bansod, Nandu Taide, Ratnakar Meshram, Satish Pande, Dashrath Mishra, Sanjay Parate, Subodh Khanokar, and Sunil Wankhde under the guidance of Police Commissioner K K Pathak, Joint Police Commissioner Sanjay Saxena, Additional Police Commissioner, and Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Darade.
