L.A.D Food festival a grand success

Nagpur News: The students of Hospitality and Catering Technology Department of L.A.D College, Seminary Hills had organised their annual food festival on Thursday evening.

The theme this year was “Delhi Haat”, brought alive by the décor, the performances as well as the varied dishes on the menu, prepared by the students themselves. “Delhi Haat” is an open air food plaza and craft Bazaar, with food stalls representing each state of India. The food included Chaat, Dahi Bhalla, Chole Bhature from the North, Lemon Rice, Idlis, Wadas, Sambar and chutneys from the South, Dhokla, Dabeli, Pav Bhaji and Fish Curry from the West and Rasogollas, Gulab Jamuns, Jalebis and Rabdis from the East.

Guests were visibly enjoying the entire experience, including regional dance performances by the students. “I attend this festival every year. The children have done a very good job,” said Mrs. Renuka Das.

Sunidhi Rathore, Gayatri Kesharvani and Darshana Gupta, whose sisters were helping run the show, claimed to love the food. “Chicken Tikka!” they exclaimed together, when asked about their favourite dish of the evening.

The work was divided between different batches of the department, and the college administration takes pride in the fact that everything from account management to preparation of food and decorations was done by the students themselves. The organising students included General Manager Insia Kapadia, Assistant General Manager Megha Band, Food Production Manager Smita Kalkar, Housekeeping Manager Nikita Dhargave, Food and Beverage Manager Pratibha Singh, Stewarding Manager Monali Shende, Publicity Manager Pooja Yempalliwar, Sales Manager Apoorva Jogi and Finance Manager Shivangi Tijare.

“It has been a very good learning experience for the students,” said Vice- Principal Harsha Jharia, “The students now know how to divide work, work hard and organise a festival themselves”.
