Kamthi, Nagpur: Thieves broke into a locked house in the Bail Bazaar area near Jaystambh Chowk in Kamthi and escaped with jewellery, cash and other valuables. The incident took place while the family had gone to Rajura in Chandrapur district to attend a birthday celebration.

According to police, 67-year-old Shobha Mate had locked her house on August 21 and left for Rajura with her family. Taking advantage of the family’s absence, unidentified thieves broke open the lock and entered the house.

The burglars searched the premises and stole jewellery, cash and other valuables. When Shobha Mate returned home with her family on Monday, she found the door and lock open. After checking the house, she discovered that valuables were missing.

She immediately informed the Juni Kamthi police, who inspected the scene and registered a case of theft against unidentified persons.

The investigation is being conducted by ASI Abhay Moon under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Vijay Dighe. Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area and collecting information about suspected persons to identify and arrest the burglars.
