Nagpur: The macabre Kamble double murder case has taken a curious turn as Nagpur Today senior crime reporter Ravikant Kamble, whose mother and one and half year old daughter were murdered on February 17 last, has accused the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kishor Supare of conniving with the accused and tried to hush up the murder case at initial stage for nefarious reasons. “Moreover, the ACP ‘deliberately’ leaked the ‘case diary’ in order to weaken the investigations,” Kamble charged.

Questioning the dubious role of ACP Supare, Kamble met Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham and lodged a written complaint in this connection. He has demanded the top cop to make the ACP co-accused in the double murder case. The demand by Kamble has created ripples in police circle in city.

Currently, the investigation into murders of 54-year old Usha Kamble and one-and-half year old Rashi , mother and daughter of Ravikant Kamble, is being investigated by ACP Rajratna Bansod. During the probe, ACP Bansod made the fourth arrest in the case when accused Ankit Shahu was rounded up.Cops have recovered blood stained clothes of the victims as well as a kerosene can used for burning the evidence. Gold ornaments worn by deceased Usha Kamble have also been recovered from the house of accused.

According to reliable sources, the ‘tainted’ ACP Supare, even before the investigations were completed, himself sought MCR of the accused. The ACP tried hard to prepare documents for MCR even before the end of police custody of the accused. When the ACP Supare was investigating the case, he did not bother to visit the crime spot nor house of the complainant for gathering solid clues. No nearby residents were interrogated for further clues. The ACP should have recorded the statement of the complainant Ravikant Kamble before hand to deal with the accused. All these crucial aspects were ‘deliberately’ neglected by the ACP Supare, the sources said.

Earlier cops had arrested Ganesh Shahu, his wife Gudiya and a minor boy in the case. Ganesh owns a grocery shop in Pawansut Nagar, who had brutally killed Usha Kamble and Rashi by slitting their throats with a tin plate of an oil can. Ganesh had murdered Usha and Rashi on the first floor of his house. In a bid to destroy the evidence, Ganesh along with other accused had packed the bodies in gunny bags and dumped them under a culvert near Durga Layout, behind Vihirgaon village on Umred road.

Sources further stated that even after the accused Ganesh Shahu and his wife Gudiya were sent to MCR, the ACP Supare did not feel it fit to record statement of complainant Ravikant Kamble. The ACP even ‘avoided’ gathering of circumstantial evidence such as half burned pieces of blood stained cloth burned by the accused, ash from the spot and other evidence. The ACP hesitated in seizing the CCTV footage. Ravikant Kamble has allegedly pointed out all these shortcomings in the double murder case probe to the Commissioner of Police.

Now, all eyes are on the action the top cop initiates in this regard.
