Kadambari, Samruddhi stage upset victories

 

 

Budding paddlers of the city Kadambari Bhandarkar and Samruddhi Khamgaonkar hogged the limelight on the first day by recording upset victories over better rated players in Pramod Mahajan Memorial 5th Maharashtra Ranking Table Tennis Tournament organised by Nagpur District Table Tennis Association (NDTTA) at Subhedar Hall, here on Wednesday.
In the second round of sub-junior girls section, unseeded Mallika Bhandarkar upset an applecart of 12th seed Puna girl Aarohi Chajed 11-6, 4-11, 11-8, 11-9.
Similarly another unseeded city player Samruddhi Khamgaonkar surprised Pune’s Eesha Joshi 11/6,11/7,9/11,14/16,12/10 to enter the third round.
In the cadet boys section no city player entered the last four stage. However in the girls section, Kadambari entered the quarters defeating Priyanka Rawat of Solapur 11/4,11/9,11/6.
In the boys section, Vedant Shah (MSD), Aditya Patil, Harsh Mehta(MSD), Yugandh Zende (THN), Advait Brahme (PNA), Shubham Ambre, Jignesh Rahatwal and Siddhesh Pande (THN) entered the quarters.
In the girls section, Manushree Patil (MSD), Aditi Sinha (MSD), Neha Gupta (MSD), Savni Pendse (THN), Kadambari Bhandarkar (NGP), Varuni Mogare (THN), Pranjal Shinde (MSD), Swastika Ghosh (RGD) booked last eight berths. Earlier vice president of All India Yuva Morcha of BJP Poonam Mahajan Rao inaugurated the tournament. MLA Devendra Fadnavis presided over the function. Corporator Sandeep Joshi, senior vice-president of Yes Bank Vaibhav Chinchalkar, NDTTA secretary Ashutosh Potnis president Deepak Dhote and tournament convenet Anup Rajurkar alsos ahred the dias.
Vidya Singh conducted the function while Praful Nandedkar proposed a vote of thanks.
