Judge Advocate General visits insitute of military law, kamptee

Nagpur News : Maj Gen Tirbani Parshad, the Judge Advocate General of the Indian Army visited Institute of Military Law (IML), Kamptee on 24 Mar 2014. This is the first maiden visit of Maj Gen Parshad to IML after he has assumed the coveted appointment of the Judge Advocate General of Indian Army on 01 Feb 2014.

IML which is located at Kamptee Cantt is a Cat A trg est which imparts training to officers of Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and also officers from Paramilitary Military Forces  belonging to BSF, Coast Guard, GREF etc in military and allied subjects. It runs various courses on discipline, vigilance and military law subjects for the officers of all Arms/Services as well as JAG Departmental officers. The course include Judge Advocate Basic course (Young Officers course) of the JAG’s department as also  Judge Advocate Advance course for the middle rung officers of the department . The courses are highly useful to the Indian Army since the training curriculum aims to maintenance of discipline in the Forces as well as dispensation of justice to the rank and profile. IML is the Alma Mater of the JAG’s department and Maj Gen T Parshad has held 02 tenures in the IML as Instructor in the rank of Maj and Lt Col.

On this occasion, the Judge Advocate General inspected the premises of the Institute and praised the upliftment and the progressive development under the stewardship of Brig D K Ahluwalia, Commandant, IML . He also visited IML temple and offered prayers.

On the occasion, the General Officer delivered a talk on ‘Admissibility and Relevance of video conferencing  in the Military Judicial System’ to 41 Army Officers attending the Middle Level Commanders and Staff Officers Law Course and representing various Headquarters/Formations of the Indian Army including Field Formations. He further emphasized on the officers to keep themselves abreast with the latest developments in the field of law so that Military Justice is imparted without any fear, favour or partiality. The Instructional Staff and Student Officers were immensely benefited with the visit of the Judge Advocate General.
