Nagpur News : Air Commodore SW Gosewade, Vayu Sena Medal has handed over the command of Air Force Station Nagpur to Air Commodore Alok Sharma Vayu Sena Medal on 24 Mar 14 in an impressive parade held at Air Force Station. Air Cmde SW Gosewade has been the Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station Nagpur from 13 Jun 2011 to 24 Mar 2014.
In his address to the air warriors, he appreciated their hard work and dedication in bringing glory to the Air Force Station. He urged them to train hard and be ready to face the challenges in future. He also wished the air warriors and their families a happy and prosperous life. Prior to being the Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station Nagpur, he has held important operational appointments in Air Headquarters and was Commanding Officer of the IL-76 Squadron “Mighty Jets” based in Nagpur from 2007 to 2009.

The Air Officer was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on 04 Jun 1982 and has held various important command, staff and instructional appointments during his distinguished service in the IAF. He belongs to Nagpur and is an ex-student of SFS School, Hislop College and Institute of Science. An experienced military transport pilot, he is qualified on Avro, Dornier and IL-76 aircraft and has flown these aircraft in all kinds of military roles both in India and abroad.
The important appointments held by him include Flt Cdr of a VIP Sqn, Commanding Officer of a combat unit and the Commanding Officer of a strategic airlift squadron. Besides, he has also been the Station Commander and President of an Air Force Selection Board.
He is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College and has been an instructor (Directing Staff) in the same institution. He is recipient of the Presidential award ‘Vayu Sena Medal’.
