Ranchi/ Nagpur: Desperate over state government apathy and despite court’s directives as well as severe criticism clouding  principal secretary to Jharkhan Chief Minister Raghubar Das regarding former’s involvement in crores worth medicine scam, former Jharjhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi in his persuasive attempt written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately shunt principal secretary Sanjay Kumar, as he is facing a probe against him in the scam.

It is alleged that principal secretary Sanja Kumar is the main accused in the medicine scam, and yet he is holding a key post in J’khand government, quite aware of being put to public shame. The probe against him was ordered by Patna High Court, and he should not remain in the office until the probe was completed and findings were out, giving clean chit to him, said Marandi’s letter to Modi.

He pointed out that the Patna High Court had directed the health department, this year, for conduct of impartial enquiry in the scam and submission of its report.

It may be mentioned that Sanjay Kumar is a 1990 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, and was appointed principal secretary  to J’Khand Chief Minister Raghubar Prasad after formation of Bhartiya Janata Party government in December 2014. Sanjay Kumar who is now on deputation to Jharkhand government was the executive director of State Health Committee in Bihar during years 2008 to 2012.
Babulal Marandi has alleged that the medicines were purchased at higher rates, causing a loss of Rs 15 crore, which was a part of Central government fund released to Bihar under National Rural Health Mission.
