International Master Anup Deshmukh Wins II ACC Cup FIDE Raiting KYMORE Tournament

Nagpur News: International master Anup Deshmukh (former Olympian) of LIC of India did the city proud by claiming the title of II ACC CUP FIDE RATING KYMORE TOURNAMENT,KATNI,INDIA.

From 7 rounds Anup scored 5.5 points. He registered 4 wins and 3 draws to win the title. The main feature being win over the top seed Super Grand Master (2541) Sanikidze Tornike of Georgia who was a guest entry. His other victims include Zoar Haque of Bangladesh, S.Abhishek (Kerala, India) and Harshita (A.P., India).

In this tournament Anup was the only player to defeat GM Tornike in a wild sicilian defence game where Tonrnike landed in time pressure after grabing a queen side pawn and lost the game in 40 moves.

For this victory Anup Deshmukh emerged richer by rs.51000/- and the Kymore Cup.

His major achievements in the year 2013 being,LIC All India Championship, National Team Chess Championship where he won individual Silver Medal for LIC on the top Board. He had many outstanding victories over many International Grand Masters which includes Levon Babujan GM from Azerbaijan, Jahangir Vakhidov , Uzbekistan, Abhiji Gupta common wealth champion , GM Sahaj Grover World Junior Bronze Medalist of 2010, GM Rustam Kostidino of Kazakistan, Maharashtra’s GM (elect) Swapnil Dhopade etc.
At the age of 47 this is really a commendable feat where most of his opponents are more then 20 years younger to him.
