Nagpur: In view of the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections, Nagpur Police have intensified combing operations across the city. As part of this drive, Pachpaoli Police carried out a major action in the Bapu Kuti Nagar area, where a cache of illegal weapons was seized, leading to the arrest of one युवक.
The arrested accused has been identified as Kamlesh Tambe. During a search operation conducted at his residence, police recovered illegal arms, triggering panic and concern in the locality.
During preliminary interrogation, Kamlesh Tambe told police that his brother had died in 2022 and that the weapons allegedly belonged to him and were kept at the house. However, despite having knowledge of the presence of these illegal weapons, the accused failed to inform the police. Investigators suspect that the accused may be deliberately attempting to mislead the probe.
Given the sensitive election period, police are treating the recovery of illegal weapons with utmost seriousness. Pachpaoli Police have arrested the accused and registered a case against him under relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the weapons and to determine for what purpose they were intended to be used.
