Nagpur News: The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj (RTM) Nagpur University’s Academic Council has refused to grant affiliation the controversial M. Tech (Computer Aided Design Manufacture and Automation) course newly introduced by Yashwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE) this year.

The course, which was to be introduced in a number  of colleges in 2013- 14, was granted sudden approval this year at the emergent meeting on November 7, which had been called for the ignored purpose of incorrect revaluation and postponement of BE and B.Arch. exams. The new M. Tech was not even supposed to be on the agenda.

Sections of the media had reported that approval had been granted at the last minute due to pressure put on the University by some private colleges. These colleges, including YCCE, had allegedly begun admitting students into the new course even before the course was granted formal approval.

Dean of Engineering Ravindra Kshirsagar is reportedly opposed to the Academic Council decision. He had also done nothing to stop the illegal approval granted by RTMNU on November 7, and neither had any of the remaining 67 Academic Council members.
