Nagpur : Nagpur Branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India delegation met and felicitated G D Agrawal, President of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal.
Delegation Led by CA. Umang Agrawal, Chairman, Nagpur Branch of ICAI, briefed about the activities of the branch.
He informed that Nagpur branch is catering to around 2000 members and more than 10000 students at Nagpur. It has been awarded as the best branch at All India level on several occasions. He said that the Branch organizes various events for updating its members and society at large. He elucidated various events organized by the Nagpur branch for the benefit of members and students. He further informed the President about the various initiatives undertaken by the Branch for enabling the members to gain knowledge and confidence for representing before the Benches of ITAT all over the country. He further acknowledged the efforts undertaken by the Members of ITAT to guide the professionals in a friendly manner. He further appreciated the working and success of ITAT Benches across the country. Chairman was pleased to welcome the President who himself is a Chartered Accountant.
Kishore Dewani, President, ITAT Bar Association, Nagpur in his welcome address welcomed the President of ITAT in Nagpur. He further thanked the President for his continuous support extended to the Counsels of Nagpur and adjoining cities. He wished that the President would ensure that the counsels of the city are given due recognition at all the benches of ITAT all over the country.
Regional Council Member CA. Abhijit Kelkar also welcomed the President on behalf of the western region and further appraised about the initiatives and support being extended by the Institute at regional level to ITAT Benches.
G D Agrawal, President reacting to the felicitation said he is impressed with the progress made by Nagpur Branch of ICAI. He lauded the efforts of the branch in the development of the Chartered Accountancy profession. He shared his memories of Nagpur while he was practicing in early 1980’s. Agrawal was happy to be felicitated by his alma matter The Institute of Chartered Accountant of India. He further informed the members present about various measures being taken by the Tribunal to ensure that impartial, easy and speedy justice with regards to Income Tax litigation is available to the taxpayers at all times. He further shared his happiness on witnessing high number of Chartered Accountant members taking up Litigation Practice and representing before the Tribunal. He however urged the members to take guide and motivate the young professional to appear before the Benches while assuring that he and his entire team shall always be available for the cause of profession.
Judicial Member, Mahavir Singh, was also welcomed on the branch.
