Three-day offline programme focuses on AI, Career Skills and Project Management; students receive IBM Certification
The Department of Training and Placement of Govindrao Wanjari College of Engineering & Technology (GWCET), Nagpur, successfully conducted a three-day IBM SkillsBuild Training Programme, benefiting more than 250 students from Engineering and Polytechnic programmes.
The programme primarily focused on three important areas—Artificial Intelligence (AI) Awareness, Career Awareness & Career Skills, and Project Management. The training was conducted by four expert trainers from IBM, who engaged the students through interactive sessions, practical activities and project-based learning.

During the AI Awareness sessions, students were introduced to the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence, its applications across various sectors and the importance of understanding emerging technologies in today’s professional environment. The sessions helped students appreciate the growing role of AI and the need to continuously upgrade their technical and professional skills.
The Career Awareness and Career Skills sessions focused on preparing students for the changing requirements of the industry. The third component, Project Management, provided students with an understanding of project planning, execution, coordination and completion. As part of the programme, students also worked on and completed a project, giving them an opportunity to apply the concepts learned during the training in a practical manner.

Dr. Salim A. Chavan, Principal, GWCET, appreciated the successful completion of the IBM SkillsBuild Training Programme and thanked IBM for providing students with this valuable industry-oriented learning opportunity. He emphasized that exposure to AI, career skills and project management will help students become better prepared for the changing requirements of the industry. He congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation and appreciated the efforts of the Training & Placement Department, HoDs and all supporting teams in making the programme successful.

Dr. Anil D. Tijare, Dean – Training & Placement, expressed his gratitude to IBM and its four expert trainers for providing students with valuable learning and practical exposure in AI, career skills and project management. He appreciated the participation of more than 250 students and their active involvement throughout the programme.
He expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Smt. Dr. Suhasiniji Wanjari, President, Amar Sewa Mandal; Hon’ble Adv. Abhijitji Wanjari, MLC, Graduate Constituency, Nagpur Region and Secretary, Amar Sewa Mandal; Hon’ble Dr. Smeetaaji A. Wanjari, Senate Member, RTMNU and Treasurer, Amar Sewa Mandal, Nagpur; and Hon’ble Principal Dr. Salim A. Chavan, for their constant encouragement, motivation and guidance in promoting such industry-oriented initiatives. He also thanked the Vice-Principal, HoDs, faculty coordinators and support teams for their valuable contribution towards the successful completion of the programme.
Dr. Tijare stated that the Training & Placement Department would continue to facilitate industry-oriented training, skill development programmes, professional certifications and placement opportunities to prepare students for successful careers in an increasingly technology-driven professional environment.
The programme concluded on a positive note, with students gaining valuable knowledge, practical exposure and an internationally recognised digital learning credential through the IBM SkillsBuild initiative.
