Nagpur: A 25-year-old theft accused escaped from Hudkeshwar Police custody on Monday morning, triggering a massive search operation and raising serious concerns over custodial security.
The absconding accused has been identified as Ikka alias Harsh Mahendra Ramteke, a resident of Tiroda. He had been arrested three days earlier in connection with a theft case and was in police custody.

According to police, at around 8 am, officers escorted the accused to the police station toilet. During this process, he allegedly managed to evade the escorting personnel and fled from custody.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot immediately after the incident. Multiple police teams have been deployed to search possible hideouts and trace the accused.
The escape has sparked questions over police security procedures and custodial handling. Hudkeshwar Police have intensified efforts to re-arrest the accused, and further investigation is underway.
