
Nagpur: A family outing to Pench turned into a nightmare for a resident of Jaripatka after unidentified burglars allegedly broke into his locked house and fled with cash and gold ornaments collectively worth over Rs 10 lakh.
The incident took place between 11 am on May 10 and 3.30 pm on May 11 under the jurisdiction of Jaripatka Police Station.
According to police, complainant Vijay Chandulal Gidwani (47), a resident of Plot No. 27/28, LIG Housing Board Colony, KK Nagar, Jaripatka, had locked his residence and gone to Pench in Madhya Pradesh along with his family for a trip.
Taking advantage of the locked house, an unidentified thief allegedly broke open the main door lock and latch before entering the house. The accused then allegedly targeted a wooden cupboard inside the bedroom and escaped with cash worth Rs 5 lakh along with gold ornaments of various designs.
The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at Rs 10.05 lakh.
Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, police have registered an offence against an unidentified accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case is being investigated by PSI Sachin Khutwal of Jaripatka Police Station.
Police said efforts are underway to trace the accused and recover the stolen valuables.
Two minors held for house break-in in Hudkeshwar
The Crime Branch Unit-3 of Nagpur City Police has detained two juveniles in connection with a house burglary in the Hudkeshwar area and recovered stolen valuables, including silver ornaments and an Apple iPhone.
The burglary took place between 8 pm on May 7 and 7.30 pm on May 8 under the limits of Hudkeshwar Police Station.
Police said complainant Milind Babnarao Waghmare (38), who was residing in a rented house at Plot No. 76, Gajanan Nagar on Narsala Road, had gone to Chandrapur with his family to attend a relative’s wedding ceremony after locking the house.
During his absence, unidentified burglars allegedly broke open the main door lock, entered the house and stole silver ornaments and an iPhone kept inside an iron cupboard in the bedroom. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at Rs 33,500.
A case was initially registered against unknown accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Hudkeshwar Police Station.
During the parallel investigation, officers and personnel of Crime Branch Unit-3 carried out technical surveillance and acted on specific intelligence inputs. A trap was laid, following which two juveniles in conflict with law were detained for questioning.
During interrogation, the minors allegedly confessed to committing the burglary, police said.
Police recovered silver jewellery and an Apple mobile phone collectively worth around Rs 70,000 from their possession. The juveniles along with the seized property were later handed over to Hudkeshwar Police for further legal action.
