According to police, the accident occurred near the 11th kilometre mark under the jurisdiction of Hingna Police Station. The trailer, bearing registration number UP 78 KN 2396, was carrying a heavy load of iron pipes when it suddenly overturned. The pipes spilled across the road, while driver Shailendra Singh (37) and helper Sanjay Yadav (29) were trapped inside the cabin.
Rescue personnel used a crane to move the pipes and extricate both men from the damaged vehicle. They were subsequently taken to AIIMS Nagpur for treatment. However, Yadav, a resident of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Singh remains under medical care.
Following a complaint lodged by Highway Police Head Constable Omprakash Pawar, Hingna Police registered a case against the truck driver. Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding and negligent driving may have caused the accident. Further investigation is underway.
