Heatstroke Suspected as Three Unidentified Men Die Across Nagpur

Nagpur: Three unidentified men were found dead at different locations across Nagpur, raising concerns amid the ongoing severe heatwave gripping the city. Police are investigating whether the deaths were caused by heatstroke or natural causes. Nagpur has been witnessing extreme temperatures, with the mercury soaring up to 46 degrees Celsius in recent days.

In the first case, an unidentified man aged between 40 and 45 years was found unconscious near the Chhattisgarh railway line in the jurisdiction of Pachpaoli Police Station on Saturday evening.

According to police, the incident came to light around 7.50 pm near an electric pole behind Divte Desi liquor outlet along the railway track area.

The deceased was described as dark-complexioned, round-faced, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, with short black hair and a thin beard and moustache. He was wearing a dark checkered shirt and grey full pants.

Police immediately shifted the man to Mayo Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon examination.

The identity of the deceased remains unknown.

Police have appealed to citizens who may recognise the man based on the description to contact Pachpaoli Police Station.

Based on the medical intimation report, Assistant Police Inspector Kunal Shedmake has registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is underway.

In the second incident, a yet-to-be-identified man aged around 35 to 40 years was found unconscious near a residential wall in the Imamwada area on Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the man was found around 3.30 pm near the rear wall of Dr Soni’s house at Jattarodi No. 1 under the jurisdiction of Imamwada Police Station.

The deceased was described as dark-complexioned, slim-built, around 5 feet tall, with short black-and-white hair and a thin beard and moustache. Police said the word “Maa” was tattooed on his right arm.

At the time he was found, the man was wearing a yellow T-shirt and black full pants.

He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital Nagpur, where doctors declared him dead. Following information provided by complainant Vaibhav Raju Waghmare, Assistant Police Inspector Dhanraj Kakde registered an accidental death case at Imamwada Police Station.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been established and further inquiry is in progress.

In the third incident, an unidentified man aged approximately 45 to 50 years was found unconscious beneath the Dighori Chowk flyover in the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station late Saturday night.

Police said the man was discovered around 9.30 pm under the flyover. He was wearing an aqua-blue full-sleeve shirt and brownish-purple full pants. He also had black, white and saffron-coloured threads tied around his wrist along with a metallic bangle resembling silver.

Officials further said the deceased had a blue, red and black coloured cloth tied around his head.

The man was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital Nagpur for medical treatment, where doctors declared him dead.

The identity of the deceased remains unknown.

Police have registered a case of accidental death and further investigation is underway to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances leading to his death.
