Hawkers to start ‘begging stir’: MLC Prakash Gajbhiye

Nagpur: City hawkers led by MLC Prakash Gajbhiye met municipal commissioner Prakash Gajbhiye on Saturday. Gajbhiye told that 34,317 hawkers are registered in ten zones of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

But NMC’s policy about hawkers is not ready yet. As per Supreme Court’s order, members of vending committee are not shown land. Forty thousand hawkers have deposited more than  62 lakh. But NMC has not done arrangements of electricity, water and toilets for hawkers.

MLC Gajbhiye demanded that hawkers should be allowed to do business at old places till alternate arrangements are made. Delegation of hawkers also warned that hawkers will resort to ‘begging stir’ from Sunday all over city.

Gopi Ambhore, Rajjak Qureshi, Avinash Tirpude, Pramod Mishra, Sandeep Shahu, Viju Dhage, Prashant Khode, Iftekar Leader, Shyam Meshram and others were present on the occasion.
