Guardian Minister dedicates Rotary-OCHRI Skin Bank to nation

SKIN BANK - INAUGRATION
Nagpur.

The much awaited India’s fourth Skin Bank; a joint project of Rotary Club of Nagpur and Orange City Hospital & Research Institute saw the light of day when Energy Minister and Guardian Minister of Nagpur Chandrashekhar Bawankule dedicated it to nation recently. Preceding his visit; Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur Division Anoop Kumar too paid a courtesy visit to the Skin bank. Anoop Kumar had taken lot of interest to pursue related paperwork for an early initiation of this project.

At the outset, floral welcome to Bawankule was rendered by President, Rotary Club of Nagpur Rotarian Bharatraj Goenka while felicitation was done by hands of Chairman, NAIRSONS Group of Companies Uday Bhaskar Nair.

This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp and ribbon cutting ceremony. Welcome speech was given by Rotarian Bharatraj Goenka and Udaybhaskar Nair. Since OCHRI is one hospital for which profit making is not the motto and profits are reinvested back to society through various such social projects, RCN had joined hands with OCHRI to commission such project. National Skin Bank, Mumbai led by Dr.Sunil Keswani had provided technical know- how and training for this project.

Honorary Director, Rotary-OCHRI Skin Bank Dr.Anup Marar read out the names of all team mates who had contributed for development of Rotary-OCHRI Skin Bank. Prashant Kale, Dr.Sameer Jahagirdar, Rotarian Umesh Sharma, Rotarian Chandru Sahni, Rotarian Dr.Ravi Wankhede, Rotarian Dr. Manmohan Daga, Sunil Sure, Roy Thomas, Santosh Mykalwar and Umesh Bhoyar were thus honored by hands of Bawankule with a scroll of gratitude.

In his inaugural address, Bawankule conveyed his pleasure to note that Rotary-OCHRI is first skin bank of Central India. He said history is being written today wherein Nagpurians are pledging to take ahead the deceased Donor Organ Donation program to save mankind. This natural skin produced at this skin bank will not only relieve complete pain of burn victims but will also reduce death ratio by 50%. Moreover it will be available at 1/10th of the cost of artificial products. He commended the passion of Rotary Club of Nagpur and OCHRI for have envisaged such a path breaking novel project. He assured all help of state government for this undertaking.

The ceremony was conducted by Dr. Deepak Dongre as master of ceremony and vote of thanks was proposed by Hon. Project Incharge, Rotary-OCHRI Skin Bank Rotarian Dr.Sameer Jahagirdar. Public awareness posters were also release by dignitaries on the dais. Santosh Mykalwar and Umesh Bhoyar are NBC trained technicians who will serve in this skin bank under leadership of Dr.Sameer Jahagirdar.

Priya Sashi, Manjiri Damle, Roy Thomas, Santosh Mykalwar, Umesh Bhoyar, Bharti Badwaik, Saramma Samuel, Sunil Sure, Ganesh Iyer, Ravindra Dhande, Ganesh Iyer, Shekhar Bhagat, Pankaj Wadaskar, Vishal Kapse, Dr. Noorul Ameen, Manish Bidwai, K.S.Shaji and Avinash Ganar worked hard for the success of this event.
