Gram panchayat elections to be held on Aug 4

2,49,748 voters to elect 1018 representatives

Nagpur: As many as 123 Gram panchayats of Nagpur district are going for elections on August 4, 2015. In all 2,49,748 voters (comprising 1,33,396 men and 1,16,352 women) will cast their votes to elect their representatives in Grampanchayats.

There are 453 polling booths and 2,315 candidates are in the ring, of them 1018 are to be elected, informed Grampanchayat elections in-charge Meshram during a press conference, here.

Nagpur district collector Sachin Kurve and Adl collector Dr Kadambari Bhagat will be jointly supervising the election process. Appropriate police bandobast has been provided on all polling booths, and a public holiday has been declared on the polling day.

The counting of votes will be held on August 6, 2015 at all taluka-levels and at Saranch Bhavan, Civil Lines, Nagpur.
