Goons threaten bar owner demand extortion money of Rs 50,000/-

Nagpur: In another daring act, goons approached the owner of Rajni Bar falling within the jurisdiction of Imamwada Police Station and demanded extortion money (Hafta) of Rs 50,000/-. The cops of Imamwada Police Station have registered a case against the accused.

According to police sources the victim identified as Suresh Dahikar aged 46 and a resident of Anand Palace, New Nandanvan owns the Rajni Bar situated at Awari Square. He has been running the bar for many years now.

Late in the night on April 24, 2016, an accused identified as Bhavsingh Malik aged 55 years and a resident of Siraspeth came to the bar along with two-three accomplices and threatened the victim Suresh Dahikar saying if he wants to continue to run the bar here, he will have to pay an extortion (Hafta) of Rs 50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand).

When the victim refused to give the demanded extortion money, the accused ransacked the bar. The employees of the bar were also threatened.

When this threatening and ransacking was taking place, alal the customers sitting in the bar started running away. The accused went on to threaten the victim saying if he does not pay the extortion amount, they will kill him.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim Suresh Dahikar, the Imamwada Police Station registered a case under Sections 387, 427, 504 and 34 of Indian Penal Code. Police Inspector J S Pawar is investigating further.
