Several Catholic schools, including Saint John’s and Saint Francis de Sales, facilitated the participation of their Christian students in the Way of the Cross. Students re-enacted the Stations of the Cross, moving through the streets of Nagpur. The journey culminated at the SFS Cathedral compound, intensifying the spiritual significance of Good Friday.

The Easter Triduum observance provided an opportunity for believers to reflect on the profound significance of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection. Through prayer, fasting, and acts of penance, Christians deepened their spiritual connection during this holiest period of the liturgical calendar. The participation of students and youth in the processions fostered a sense of community and religious identity. Additionally, the involvement of Catholic schools in organizing religious activities contributed to the spiritual formation of their students.

As the Christian community in Nagpur enters the culmination of the Easter Triduum, the atmosphere is filled with reverence and anticipation for the celebration of Easter Sunday. Through prayerful observances and communal gatherings, believers reaffirm their faith and devotion, embodying the essence of this sacred season. The interfaith participation underscores the city’s rich tapestry of religious diversity and harmony.

Several parishes conducting the Way of the Cross in or around their church premises, also meditated on the seven last words uttered by a lashed and bleeding Jesus, hanging nailed to a cross for nearly three hours before dying there on that first Good Friday on Mount Calvary over 2000 years ago.

Christians believe that Jesus suffered and died paying the price for sin. He did this, to obey the will of His Father in heaven thus working in thought, word and deed “for Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven”; “Thy” here refers to God the Father who is in heaven. God’s will is broadly known to the faithful through the “Ten Commandments” in which “the love of God and love of neighbour are detailed out.

After a “Veneration of the Holy Cross” service on Friday evening, the faithful now prepare through a prayerful disposition for the Easter vigil service on Saturday evening which marks the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead on Sunday.
