
Nagpur: A case of theft has been registered at Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station after gold jewellery worth Rs 2.18 lakh was stolen from a hotel room during a family wedding stay in Nagpur.
According to police, the complainant, Jyoti Rajendra Hivale (61), a resident of Salisbury Apartment, Mohan Saberia, Ambernath West in Thane district, had come to Nagpur to attend a relative’s wedding. She was staying at Room No. 106 of Arjuna Celebration Hall, located within the jurisdiction of Rana Pratap Nagar police station, from January 1 to January 5, 2026.
During her stay, Hivale and her relatives had also attended a musical programme at Tuli Imperial. Taking advantage of their absence, an unidentified thief allegedly entered the hotel room through an unlocked door and stole gold ornaments kept in the bags belonging to the complainant and her relatives. The total value of the stolen jewellery is estimated at Rs 2,18,300.
Based on the complaint lodged by Hivale on January 10, 2026, Assistant Police Inspector Dandale registered a case against an unknown accused under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
