NAGPUR: An aged couple from Bhandara were shocked when they learnt that somebody had stolen 75 grams of gold ornaments from their bag in a running autorickshaw on Thursday afternoon. The couple had come to Nagpur for medical treatment and were going from Sitabuldi to Reshimbagh when the incident happened.
Ashok Gulabrao Bondhre (60), a resident of Kali Mata Nagar at Mauda in Bhandara, and his wife came to Nagpur for medical treatment. As a precaution, they decided to remove all their gold ornaments and kept it in a cloth bag. They hired an autorickshaw from Sitabuldi to go to a hospital at Sakkardara.
Three other persons in the age group of 25-30 years were also sitting in the auto. They alighted near Reshimbagh Chowk. The Bondhre couple continued till the hospital, where they noticed that the ornaments has been stolen. They immediately loged a complaint at Sakkardara police station. Police suspect that the three persons in tha uto might have stolen the gold ornaments. Police are trying to recover CCTV footage of the accused.
Interestingly, the current market price of the stolen ornaments was around Rs 2.25 lakh to Rs 2.50 lakh. However, the police mentioned the original buying price of Rs 1.26 lakh in the rep
