Nagpur News: The Gittikhadan police have hit the illegal stocks of liquor on the eve of “Pola” and seized the stuff worth Rs 5,52,000 by raiding various places. They have arrested 13 women and a man in this connection.
The Gittikhadan police carried out the raids in Bhivsan Khori area in the dead of intervening night ofWednesday-Thursday (September 4-5). Police have seized a total of 135 liters of “Mahua” liquor from the illegal breweries in the area.
In the first raid, the police seized 10 plastic drums of liquor and the fermented “Mahua” flowers collectively worth Rs 22,000 from Lankabai Panjab Gajbhiye’s house in Bhivsan Khori. In the second raid, police seized 8 plastic drums of liquor and the fermented “Mahua” flowers worth Rs 17,000 from Reshma in the same area. In the third raid, police recovered 15 plastic drums of liquor and the fermented “Mahua” flowers worth Rs 33,000 from Ranjana Sontakke’s house in the same area. Similarly, police seized a Mahindra Pick Up Van and recovered 50 liters of “Mahua” liquor from the vehicle collectively worth Rs 2,54,500 including the vehicle. Police have launched a hunt for the absconding driver of the vehicle. In the fifth raid, they seized 10 plastic drums of liquor and the fermented “Mahua” flowers worth Rs 22,400 from the house of Kavita Prakash Tembhurne. From Vimla Meshram’s house, police seized 9 plastic drums , 10 liters of “mahua” liquor and the fermented “Mahua” flowers worth Rs 19,000, same stuff from Savita Gajbhiye worth Rs 35,600, from Shalu Kiran’s house stuff worth Rs 26,800, from Deepali Gajbhiye’s house, liquor worth Rs 22,800, from Shakuntalabai Dongre’s house stuff worth Rs 10,800. Smilarly, police seized the stuff from the house Shantabai Gedam, Meerabai Ganvir, Geeta Patil, Kalpana Ramteke worth thousands.
The Operation “Pola” Liquor was supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police Mangaljit Seeram, ACP Dharamshi and was carried out by Gittikhadan PI Sunil Bonde, PSI Baghele, Kurade, Patil, Dube, and others.
