Gittikhadan police have foiled a major dacoity plan and arrested 3 members of the gang at 2230 hours on Tuesday.
According to police, the three accused Mayur Krishna Raut (19), resident of Gautam Nagar, Bhivsen Khori Colony, Nagpur, Shivam Tulsiram Chavan (19), resident of Shivshakti Nagar, Wadi, Nagpur and Anil Rajendra Fulzele (19), resident Trilok Nagar, Dattawadi, Nagpur and their two unidentified accomplices were in ambush position near New Jagruti Colony, Near NIT Garden under Gittikhadan Police Station jurisdiction. The Gittikhadan police received a tip off about the movement of the accused. The police, along with two “Panch” (Witnesses) rushed to the spot. However, two members of the dacoit gang, after spotting policemen, managed to flee taking advantage of darkness. But police succeeded in nabbing the three accused.
When police frisked the accused, they were taken aback to find lethal weapons the accused were possessing. Police seized big iron rod, fish brand knife, “Katyar” (a sharp-edged, large knife), rope, chili powder, and one Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (MH-40/S 4450) from the three accused collectively worth Rs 32,140. The Gittikhadan PSI Bhagat arrested the three members of the gang under Section 399 of the IPC, under Sub-Section 4/25 of Arms Act and Sub-Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act and is investigating the matter further. A search has been launched to arrest the absconding members of the gang.
