Nagpur News:  In a macabre incident a youth was murdered at Subhash Nagar T-Point near Ambajhari Lake in Nagpur.  The victim was identified Dilip Mahto (30), a resident of Nelco Colony, Pratap Nagar.  The way he was murdered, by stoning and attacking with sharp-edged weapons, left the nearby citizens dumb-founded. According to police, the murder took place in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday at 1.30 am. The police suspect the hand of at least 5-6 accused in the gruesome murder.  They have detained three suspects in this murder case. The police had not registered an offence till Friday afternoon as the preliminary investigation was on. They have sent the body for post-mortem to Government Medical Hospital.

According to family sources, Dilip was returning home after distributing “Prasad” on the occasion of Lord Hanuman Jayanti.  The accused accosted him at Subhash Nagar T-Point and killed him by repeatedly hitting him with big stones. Dilip was working in a private company.

The police, including the higher officials like Addition Commissioner of Police Shinde, DCP, ACP, reached Pratap Nagar Police Station for a detailed discussion over the murder and prepared a strategy to nab the accused. They asked for information available from Police Inspector of Pratap Nagar Police Station Pagare on the incident. Reports received from the spot revealed that Dilip was residing in Plot No. 177 in Kolamkar’s  house. Dilip and his three brothers were living in the house as renters. He was a bachelor. Dilip went to nearby Lord Hanuman Temple at Subhash Nagar T-Point for distribution of “Prasad.”  It was reported that Dilip had a heated exchange of words with some people during the distribution of “Prasad.” However, people present there intervened and the situation was brought under control. The distribution of “Prasad” went on till late night. But when Dilip started returning home the accused attacked him with stones and some sharp-edged arms killing him on the spot.

The mother and one of his brothers Pradeep rushed to the spot after getting information about the incident. However, they could not help Dilip as he was already dead. The mother and his brother immediately informed the nearby Pratap Nagar Police Station but as usual, it was alleged, the police reached the spot very late. The police then informed the higher ups. The policemen at Pratap Nagar Police Station avoided to divulge any information regarding the incident. It may be recalled that the Nagpur Police Commissioner K K Pathak had recently provided patrol vehicles to every police station. Now, a question has been raised where the Pratap Nagar Police Station patrol vehicle was at the time of the incident. The most shocking part of the incident is the police control room was not informed about the incident till the Friday morning. This fact came to know the control room was asked about the murder. The officer present at the control room Mishra told that he was not aware properly about the  incident and said the incident may be a murder or an attempt to murder.
