Garbage Crisis Building Up at Goa’s ‘Queen of Beaches’, Calangute

One of Goa’s most popular beaches, Calangute, could be hit by a garbage crisis after the municipal corporation of Panaji said it would not be treating wet waste generated on the beach.

The decision came after local villagers blocked the trucks heading towards a garbage treatment plant in Saligao, near Calangute, due to a ‘foul smell’ emanating from the plant.
