Nagpur: Swamped by a deluge of disturbing reports over farmers’ suicides, their plights, and other ravages afflicting the farming community, the Union Minister for Shipping and Transport Nitin Gadkari on Saturday urged DD Kisan to showcase success stories of farmers that will act as an inspirational elixir for others.

“The success stories of farmers who have become prosperous will help others to gain knowledge about particular crop and farming,” asserted Nitin Gadkari at the launch of the DD Kisan Rath Yatra in Nagpur. Gadkari said DD Kisan can bring revolution in the farming sector and should showcase success stories of farmers from different parts of the country.

The Union Minister called on the farmers not to solely depend much on agriculture and advocated for progressive and experimental farming for better results. Citing an example, he said blending of ethanol in petrol was a success and today all two-wheelers and other vehicles running in the city are supplied with ethanol mixed petrol.

The minister said farmers should also take advantage of plantation drives being undertaken along the highways across the country.
DD Kisan Rath Yatra launched for Maharashtra has already toured 11 states. It will travel across the state and create awareness about farming and Government sponsored schemes for the benefit of rural masses.

Additional Director General DD Ranjan Mukherjee and Advisor DD Kisan Naresh Sirohi, along with farmers’ leaders Pasha Patel and Ashok Dhote, were also present on the occasion.
